I am tired of getting blinded by bright lights. When it is dark and raining visibility is the worst. The above picture is all I see. I am guessing where the road is. I won’t hit the other car because that is all I see, but a deer, person, rock, or tree in my way will definitely not be noticed until impact.
I wish everyone would go to selective amber.
Selective amber on a Corvette for reading my rant.

I have the exact same problem. I’m not sure if it’s my eyes (I’ve got a slight astigmatism, slight enough that I don’t need corrective lenses) or my massively pitted 325,000-mile windshield. It’s the same story if I’m driving directly into the sunrise or sunset.

I drive a Mini and anything that’s larger than an Imprezas has its headlights at eye level with me.

New acuras seem to be some of the worst offenders.

I have an astigmatism as well. I never thought that could be making it worse, but I did wonder if having glasses in general makes it worse.

Are they blueish HID or LED?

I think nowadays people either drive with full beams on or all their lights completely off.

New Corollas are surprisingly bad too.

This is a huge problem for me. All of my cars are low to the ground, so the commanding ride height of everyone else in front and being me tends to be aimed right in my face.

I had pitted windshields on the past two cars of mine and I had them replaced, best couple hundred bucks I’ve spent.

One of my pet peeves is people who drive around with their fog lights on when there’s no airborne obstruction to visibility (fog, smoke, volcanic ash, etc). I’ve taken to flashing my fogs at oncoming offenders, but I doubt anyone gets the message.

I only really notice issues at night. My night vision is great, but any lights end up a slightly offset double with a bright blur around them, and the brighter the light, the bigger the halo. It’s really the only time I have issues with my eyes.
Driving down the pacific coast this summer I had serious issues in a construction zone somewhere between the Bay Area and Santa Cruz. There was a slight misty drizzle, and the fresh wet pavement was very reflective and there were pylons everywhere and the whole area was lit up with massive construction lights. All I saw was a pool of light on the road and hundreds of orange blobs, and somehow I had to pick my way through them with no idea where the road was or where it went. So I end up going slower than the construction limit which pisses off all the locals behind me, sitting right in my ass, and there were a couple dipshits who kept flashing their brights over and over again which only made things worse. I tried pulling over a couple times but they just stopped and honked, even when I tried to wave them around.

My wife is constantly annoyed that I rage about this very issue anytime we go anywhere at night. I live in the suburbs, with no street lights, so people tend to have their high beams on when they’re in their neighborhoods (though I have no idea why, do you really not know your own road well enough to drive with the regular lights on?), and forget to turn them off when they get out on the main roads. Rarely am I headed anywhere more than 10 minutes away, and I without fail, pass at least 3 or 4 cars with the high beams on, and one or two assholes with HIDs stuffed in regular halogen enclosures. My wife drives a van, and I drive a small hatch, so it’s probably a lot more noticable to me than to her, but one day I’m going to follow some jackass home and smash his headlights in with a tire iron. Ok, not really, but it does make me fantasize about it :)

I’m thinking it’s definitely time, and it would have happened a while ago, but it’s my daily and the nearest glass shop is 100km away, and I keep prioritizing other things. Hopefully I can get the Niva back on the road soon so I can afford to be without the Jeep for a couple days.
It also doesn’t help that I know that with the amount of miles I put on on gravel, plus the sand and crap from winter that’ll be on the roads till May or June, will mean that my nice new windshield won’t stay that way for very long. I suppose it’ll be better than it is now, but... Yeah.

I have the same issue - if it’s wet and the lights are bright, I can’t see shit. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be wet, if there’s a line of traffic the other way, all I can see are brake lights in front of me and otherwise I’m guessing where my lane is. It’s to the point I try to avoid driving at night.

I don’t know if I’m an 80-year old in a 21-year old body or my eyes are just shit but headlights on modern cars are too bright.

Oh god I can’t stand modern headlights. I feel like it’s gotten so much harder to see at night in the last few years, especially in the rain. I don’t know if it’s because of my contact lenses/glasses or what, but modern headlights completely fuck with me. It doesn’t help that I’m in a low wagon and 95% of others are driving pickups, SUVs, CUVs, even hatchbacks have higher headlights that hit me right in the eyes. It hardly matters if their high beams are on, I’m blinded just the same

Part of why I love living in the middle of nowhere is there’s rarely any traffic in the dark.
